Major Traffic Improvements - Intersections
Description
The objective of the project is to improve overall intersection operation including public and active transport facilities and improve overall safety. The scope is to finalise all elements in the pre-construction phase that results in a design solution in the form of a set of Construction Contract Documents to establish the construction contract. The project includes two intersections:
Esher Street, Toohey Road and Sexton Street Intersection, Tarragindi
Annerley Road, Cornwall Street and Noble Street Intersection, Dutton Park.
Role
DYKMAN Consulting (DC) have been appointed by BCC to provide specialist civil and structural design engineering, road and pavement design, PUP identification, transport planning, geotechnical engineering, electrical engineering (specifically lighting and traffic signals), environmental expertise, constructability, cost estimation, risk management and tender technical documentation preparation.
Challenges & Achievements
DC undertook a methodical approach in undertaking the design of the 2 sites where all had varying complexities of PUA assets. The approach allowed for rationalision of impact to services from Before You Dig (BYD) investigations, potholing of services, space proofing, PUA engagement and adopting civil design strategies to mitigate impact to services.
