Major Intersection Improvements - Black Spots 23/24
Description
The project is to design the upgrade of five existing intersections and roads, generally in accordance with concepts as submitted for Blackspot funding for construction in 2023 – 2024 and in accordance with Blackspot Funding criteria, to improve safety at each site and reduce risk of crashes. The five sites are;
Bay Terrace and Chestnut Street, Wynnum
Bennetts Road, Crown Street and Macrossan Avenue, Norman Park.
Johnson Road, Forest Lake
Kittyhawk Avenue and Inala Avenue, Inala.
Logan Road and Deshon Street, Woolloongabba.
Role
DYKMAN Consulting has been appointed by BCC to undertake the Detailed Design phase of each of the five sites, inclusive, of the Project is to develop a Preliminary and Detailed Design that builds on the concept design and provide finalisation of design and documentation to allow the project to proceed to construction.
Challenges & Achievements
Key challenges the team has faced to-date include review previous consultants work to ensure compliant to standards and that no significant changes are made that will affect the costings. The team has made improvements on the concepts as well as accelerated the program through innovation in the investigation and no need for traffic permits.
