Hidden World Playground to Bill Brown Reserve Cycleway
Description
The Hidden World Bikeway links two important cycle corridors for greater Brisbane, connecting two secondary bike routes on Telegraph Road, Bracken Ridge and Roghan Road, Fitzgibbon. The project improves access for residents of Fitzgibbon and Bracken Ridge to community and recreation facilities, as well as improving active transport connectivity. The project connects directly into the Telegraph Road shared path. This allows for connectivity to the broader active transport network, including the Cabbage Tree Creek Bikeway, Gateway Motorway Bikeway, and beyond to the Deagon Deviation Bikeway.
Role
DYKMAN Consulting complete the preliminary and detailed designs of the Hidden World Bikeway to improve pedestrian and cycle connectivity and construct the missing link between Fitzgibbon and Bracken Ridge. When complete the bikeway will be in the form of a 3m wide shared path that is built as close as possible to natural ground levels whilst minimising risk of excavating into contaminated land. The alignment includes a 40m 2-span bridge structure traversing a waterway to the south of Telegraph Road. The bikeway design insures no in actionable flood nuisance to private properties and also includes wayfinding signage and the design of lighting along the path.
Challenges & Achievements
